Ever heard the phrase “Don’t put the cart before the horse”? It kind of applies with this one…
So many people who’ve yet to make a sale online yet, find themselves paralysed from starting because they’re not sure what they’ll do about tax when they’re getting success online.
9 times out of 10, they think they’re asking a question about tax. What they’re really asking though (mostly without even realising), is how to take action in the face of uncertainty.
A major shift that every entrepreneur has to go through, is learning how to embrace uncertainty, and become comfortable in the unknown.
It’s Employee Mindset vs Entrepreneurial Mindset.
As employees we’ve been conditioned into believing that:
– Safety, security and certainty is good
– A reliable monthly salary that we can depend on each month is good
Failing or making mistakes is bad
– Not knowing exactly how you’re going to do something before you’ve even started is bad
– Risk is bad
– Spending money is risky. Therefore spending money is bad
And so on and so forth…
The problem is that every one of the points above, is the exact opposite of what’s required in order to be a successful entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurs LIVE in uncertainty, in the unknown. They embrace it. They’ve learnt to feel comfortable in it.
As employees, we think the certainty, the salary, the aversion to risk, the aversion to failure, the scarcity mindset with money… we think they’re there to keep us safe.
But really all they do is keep us trapped, and stuck firmly in place.
It’s time to embrace the unknown.
